Karachi: (www.thenewslark.com) (By TNL Reporter) Despite a written letter from ABAD (Association of Builders and Developers of Pakistan) to Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, accusing Deputy Director of the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) Riyaz Mulla of facilitating illegal construction in Orangi Town, it has been revealed that the illegal construction activities continue unabated.
According to sources, ABAD Chairman Mohammad Hassan Bakhshi had, in his letter dated December 4, 2025, accused Riyaz Mulla of blackmailing, making illegal demands, and harassing builders and developers. The letter mentioned that several builders had filed written complaints, stating that Riyaz Mulla was not only using foul language but was also obstructing their businesses to extract illegal financial benefits.
In the letter, the Chief Minister was urged to order an impartial inquiry into Riyaz Mulla’s conduct and to suspend him until the inquiry was completed, so he could not influence the investigation. ABAD also appointed its Vice Chairman Tariq Aziz as the focal person for communication on the issue.
However, despite the letter being sent, illegal construction continues to be facilitated in Orangi Town, which has raised concerns among local residents and builders. Civic circles have pointed out that the ongoing silence from the Sindh Minister for Local Government, the Chief Secretary of Sindh, and the DG of SBCA is raising numerous questions.
Local residents argue that the rapidly increasing illegal constructions in Orangi Town are not only damaging the city’s urban planning and safety regulations but have also called into question the performance of the administrative bodies involved. Citizens are demanding that the Chief Minister and senior officials immediately take notice of the serious allegations mentioned in the letter and take transparent action to address the situation.
