Senior Minister for Information, Transport, Mass Transit, Excise Taxation, and Narcotics Control, SharjeelInamMemon, reiterated the Pakistan People’s Party’s (PPP) long-standing advocacy for freedom of expression and its unwavering support for the media. Speaking as the chief guest at a health card distribution ceremony organized by the Hyderabad Union of Journalists at the Hyderabad Press Club, Minister Memon highlighted the PPP’s historical role in championing press freedom, citing the late Shaheed Benazir Bhutto’s stalwart defense of media liberties during oppressive regimes. Expressing delight at distributing health cards to journalists, Minister SharjeelInamMemon emphasized the PPP’s commitment to journalists’ welfare and media freedom. He acknowledged the vital role journalists play in society and underscored the party’s responsibility to provide them with essential support. Minister Memon credited the PPP for significant national achievements, including constitutional reforms, nuclear advancements, and media freedom initiatives like the Eighteenth Amendment. Highlighting the PPP’s humanitarian efforts, Minister Memon recounted the party’s swift response during the Sindh floods, where millions were displaced, and the subsequent housing initiatives undertaken to assist affected communities. He praised the exemplary service of Sindh’s hospitals, attracting patients not only from other provinces but also from neighboring countries like Iran and Afghanistan.

Minister SharjeelInamMemon outlined the government’s efforts to combat drug abuse and announced plans to establish rehabilitation centers for addicts, aiming to safeguard future generations. He emphasized the importance of collective action to revive the economy, expand the tax base, and address national challenges, echoing Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s call for unity. Responding to queries, Minister Memon addressed concerns about law enforcement, highlighting the Sindh Police’s role in maintaining security and preventing terrorism in Karachi.

 

He also discussed the expansion of public transportation initiatives and the PPP’s support for democracy, stressing the party’s prioritization of Pakistan’s interests over individual ambitions. Minister SharjeelInamMemon distributed health cards among journalists, reaffirming the PPP’s commitment to supporting the media and ensuring journalists’ well-being.
