ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari has called for an expansion of Pakistan-Sweden cooperation in renewable energy, sustainable technologies, information technology, and agriculture. He also underscored the importance of parliamentary exchanges and leadership visits to further deepen bilateral ties.
He was talking to the Ambassador-designate of Pakistan to Sweden, Ahmed Amjad Ali who called on him at Aiwan-e-Sadr on Friday.
Congratulating him, the President noted the friendly relations between the two countries and highlighted shared views on multilateralism, the rules-based international order, human rights and democracy.
He underscored the importance Pakistan attaches to Sweden as an economic and commercial partner and a key member of the EU, UN and other multilateral bodies.
Noting the recent rise in bilateral trade, the president asked the Ambassador-designate to explore academic exchanges, joint research and technical and vocational training under institutional partnerships.
President Zardari expressed confidence that the Ambassador-designate would engage closely with thousands of Pakistani diaspora in Sweden, recognising their contribution to Sweden’s progress while promoting goodwill for Pakistan.
