ISLAMABAD: An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) of Islamabad on Friday sent suspect Saad Abbasi to jail on judicial remand after the completion of his four-day physical remand in the murder case of martyred Group Captain Asim Tariq.
The suspect was produced before the court after investigators completed the remand period granted for questioning. The hearing was conducted by Duty Judge Abdul Ghafoor Kakar.
During the proceedings, Prosecutor Raja Naveed Hussain Kiyani appeared before the court on behalf of the prosecution. The prosecution did not seek any further physical remand of the accused and informed the court accordingly.
After reviewing the case record and the status of the investigation, the court ordered that Saad Abbasi be sent to jail on judicial remand.
The case relates to the killing of Group Captain Asim Tariq, whose death is being investigated under anti-terrorism laws. The suspect had remained in police custody for four days for interrogation and collection of evidence connected to the case.
