New York:member delegation from the Rice Exporters Association of Pakistan (REAP) is visiting the United States from May 7–16, 2026, under the auspices of the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) and the Ministry of Commerce. The visit forms an integral part of the Ministry of Commerce and TDAP’s comprehensive Rice Marketing Strategy and aims to strengthen bilateral trade relations in the rice sector, with a strong emphasis on engaging retailers and securing long-term contracts.

The delegation commenced its activities in New York City on May 7, 2026. On the first day, the Trade Mission in New York organized high-level meetings in Queens between the REAP delegation and leading U.S.-based rice importers, distributors, and retailers. Discussions focused on market requirements, pricing, quality standards, regulatory compliance, and opportunities for deeper commercial cooperation.

The Chairman of REAP highlighted the superior quality, consistency, and international compliance standards of Pakistani rice. He emphasized that Pakistan’s rice exports — particularly its premium varieties, including the world-renowned Basmati rice — are globally recognized for excellence and have minimal rejection rates in international markets.

U.S. importers and retailers appreciated the quality and competitiveness of Pakistani rice and expressed keen interest in expanding trade ties. The current U.S.-India trade frictions and associated dumping concerns provide Pakistan with a unique edge in the market. The delegation has been tasked with locking in permanent shelf space for Pakistani rice while buyers actively seek reliable alternatives to Indian supply.

In the evening, the Trade Mission hosted a successful networking dinner at the Consulate General of Pakistan in New York, attended by more than 25 rice importers and businesses from New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. The event offered an excellent platform for business-to-business engagement and in-depth discussions on enhancing bilateral trade.

This delegation is part of the Ministry of Commerce and TDAP’s broader rice marketing strategy. Additional trade delegations are planned for Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and the Philippines, along with roadshows targeting the West Africa and East Africa markets.
Pakistan continues to be one of the world’s leading suppliers of premium-quality rice, underscoring its commitment to expanding its presence in key international markets through proactive and targeted outreach.
