ISLAMABAD:Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Tuesday, commended the Pakistan Navy for carrying out a successful rescue operation in the Arabian Sea.
The prime minister said the Pakistan Navy responded swiftly and effectively to a distress call from an offshore vessel ‘MV Gautam’ which was stranded at sea due to a technical fault while enroute from Oman to India, PM Office Media Wing said in a press release.
He further said that seven individuals were onboard the vessel, including six Indian nationals and one Indonesian citizen.
Following the emergency, the prime minister said, the PMSA ship ‘Kashmir’ was deployed for the rescue mission. The naval team provided the stranded crew with food, medical assistance, and technical support.
The prime minister noted that the timely operation ensured the restoration of the vessel’s essential systems and the safety of all crew members.
He praised the Pakistan Navy for once again demonstrating a high standard of professionalism and humanitarian commitment, adding that Pakistan continued to play the role of a responsible state at the global level in ensuring maritime safety and fulfilling humanitarian obligations.
The prime minister reiterated that the Pakistan Navy remained fully prepared to respond to all kinds of emergencies.
