On the occasion of Kashmir Solidarity Day (5 February), a ceremony was held at the Embassy of Pakistan in Riyadh, which was attended in large numbers by members of the Pakistani and Kashmiri communities as well as diplomatic officials. The participants reaffirmed their resolve to stand shoulder to shoulder with their Kashmiri brothers and sisters until the freedom of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir is achieved.

Addressing the gathering in the Saudi capital, the speakers stated that India is involved in grave and continuous human rights violations in occupied Kashmir, where innocent Kashmiris are being brutally killed. They termed the silence of the international community as deeply regrettable and stressed that the Kashmir issue must be resolved in accordance with United Nations resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Pakistan, Mr. Muazzam Ali, said that India is sabotaging regional peace and is involved in acts of terrorism. He added that Pakistan has always given a strong and effective response to India in its own language. He urged global powers and the United Nations to take notice of Indian atrocities and play their role in ensuring the right to self-determination for the Kashmiri people.

The ceremony was attended by prominent Kashmiri leaders including Sardar Abdul Razzaq, Maulana Abdul Malik Mujahid, Rana Abdul Rauf, along with Professor Rafiq Chaudhry, Rana Sarfaraz, Adnan Iqbal Butt, Jameel Rabbani, Ilyas Rahim, and other notable leaders of the Pakistani and Kashmiri communities, who expressed complete solidarity with the Kashmiri people on Kashmir Solidarity Day.

On this occasion, Kashmiri leaders also addressed the gathering and paid tribute to the struggle and sacrifices of the Kashmiri people.

During the event, Kiran Akbar, Hamza Khan, and Moeed Kiani read out special messages from Prime Minister of Pakistan Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, President Asif Ali Zardari, and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, respectively, reaffirming Pakistan’s full support for the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination.

The participants reiterated their commitment that Pakistan will continue its political, diplomatic, and moral support for the Kashmiri people at all levels and will keep highlighting the seriousness of the Kashmir issue before the world through Kashmir Solidarity Day.
