LONDON:Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif Friday expressed deep sorrow and grief over the loss of precious lives due to an avalanche in Chitral.
He directed the concerned federal rescue and relief agencies to intensify relief operations in cooperation with the provincial government.
He directed the administration to take steps to immediately transport the victims to safe places.
He also directed the Chairman National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to monitor the situation after snowfall in the mountainous areas of the country and maintain contact with the concerned agencies, so that any untoward situation can be dealt with.
