Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has directed relevant authorities to remain on high alert in anticipation of potential stormy rains across the province.
She instructed the Punjab Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), administration, police, and rescue services to take necessary preemptive measures. She issued orders for deputy commissioners and other relevant officials to stay active in the field.
The chief minister emphasized that deputy commissioners must ensure compliance with the guidelines issued by PDMA Punjab. She directed authorities to take essential measures in anticipation of possible cloudbursts in Upper Punjab.
Additionally, she ordered preemptive arrangements and proactive measures for protection against potential flash floods in the Koh-e-Sulaiman and riverine areas, with specific instructions for the districts of Murree, Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Chakwal, and Koh-e-Sulaiman.
In view of safety concerns, the CM agreed to impose restrictions on tourist travel to Murree and adjoining areas, directing authorities to limit tourist movement due to risks of cloudbursts, landslides, and stormy rains.
