This sacred festival is not only a cornerstone of the Christian faith but also a universal reminder of hope, sacrifice, renewal, and the triumph of righteousness over injustice. In a world deeply troubled by conflict and division, the message of Easter holds profound relevance for all humanity, regardless of religion, geography, or culture.
Background and Significance of Easter
Easter commemorates the resurrection of Jesus Christ (حضرت عیسیٰ علیہ السلام) from the dead, an event described in the New Testament of the Bible. According to Christian belief, Jesus was crucified and buried, and on the third day, he rose again, symbolizing victory over death and sin. This event is considered the foundation of Christian faith, representing divine love, forgiveness, and eternal life.
The origins of Easter are deeply rooted in early Christianity, emerging as a major religious observance in the first few centuries after Christ. It is preceded by Lent, a 40-day period of fasting, reflection, and repentance, culminating in Good Friday, which marks the crucifixion of Jesus. Easter Sunday then becomes a day of immense joy and celebration, symbolizing spiritual rebirth and renewal.
Beyond its theological importance, Easter carries a universal moral message: that patience, sacrifice, and steadfastness in the face of adversity ultimately lead to success and salvation. It is in such times that religious leaders and global figures must rise to remind humanity of its moral responsibilities.

In recent times, Pope Leo XIV has emerged as a strong voice advocating for peace and justice. His statements condemning atrocities against Palestinians and expressing concern over escalating tensions involving Iran reflect the true spirit of Christian teachings.

The role of the United States, being one of the most influential countries in the world and home to a large Christian population, becomes especially critical. Leadership decisions made in Washington have far-reaching consequences, affecting millions of lives across the globe.
During the presidency of Donald Trump, foreign policy decisions, particularly in the Middle East, have been subjects of intense debate and scrutiny. Issues concerning Iran, Palestine, and Lebanon have highlighted the complexities and challenges of international diplomacy.
Responsibility of the American People
In democratic societies, the power ultimately lies with the people. Citizens have the right—and indeed the responsibility—to hold their leaders accountable and to advocate for policies that reflect moral and humanitarian values.
For the American people, particularly those who identify with Christian teachings, Easter offers an opportunity for reflection and action. The life of Jesus Christ was marked by standing against ظلم, defending the oppressed, and promoting peace even in the face of persecution
Following this example, citizens can use peaceful and democratic means—such as dialogue, civic engagement, voting, and advocacy—to encourage policies that prioritize diplomacy over الحرب (war), and justice over domination.
It is important, however, to approach such responsibilities with wisdom, balance, and respect for diverse perspectives. Constructive engagement, rather than division, is the key to meaningful change.
Interfaith Harmony and Collective Action
One of the most powerful aspects of Easter is its ability to bring people together across cultural and religious boundaries. In countries like Pakistan, Christians and Muslims have historically lived side by side, sharing joys and sorrows and contributing collectively to national progress.
Promoting interfaith harmony is essential in today’s polarized world. Religious leaders, scholars, and communities must work together to counter hate, misinformation, and extremism. مشترکہ اقدار—such as compassion, justice, and respect for human dignity—should form the basis of this collaboration.
