Karachi:The “Qawwal Bachon Ka Gharana,” an institution with roots over 200 years deep in South Asia, is witnessing a powerful resurgence in its next generation. Founded by Munshi Razhi-Uddin Ahmed, more than a revered qawwal, he was a lifelong scholar and innovator of the classical qawwali art form. His sons, Fareed Ayaz, Abu Muhammad, Akbar Ali, and Ghulam Akram, propelled this legacy into the international spotlight, achieving both critical and commercial acclaim.
Today, this legendary lineage continues to thrive through emerging stars: Hamza Akram Qawwal Group, Moiz-Uddin and Ghulam Mustafa Qawwal, and Fattah Ali and Turab Ali Qawwal. Each group has developed a distinctive style while preserving the purity of traditional qawwali, generating significant local attention and now setting their sights on a global stage.
