ISLAMABAD:Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-F (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rahman on Monday acknowledged Senator Kamran Murtaza’s role in the approval of the 26th Constitutional Amendment, which included significant Islamic provisions. Prominent religious figures, including Mufti Taqi Usmani, Maulana Hanif Jalandhari, and Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri, were in attendance. Several key political figures and journalists, including Hamid Mir and Saleem Safi, also participated. Speaking at the event, Maulana Fazlur Rahman praised Kamran Murtaza’s pivotal contribution to the constitutional amendment. “This event is dedicated to Kamran Murtaza, whose tireless efforts have brought us here,” he said, emphasizing the historic nature of the amendment process. Mufti Taqi Usmani, in his address, praised Maulana Fazlur Rahman’s relentless dedication, stating that his efforts were a blessing for the country and the Muslim community. He expressed his surprise at the event, explaining that he had come primarily to extend his congratulations. “Maulana Fazlur Rahman worked day and night to ensure these amendments were passed,” Usmani said. Maulana Hanif Jalandhari called for special prayers in all religious seminaries, encouraging the offering of gratitude prayers in recognition of this milestone achievement. The ceremony celebrated the hard-fought approval of Islamic provisions in the amendment, with speakers acknowledging the collective efforts of the religious and political leaders involved in this endeavor.
