Political parties are an integral part of politics and they play a very important role in political struggle for the rights of people, for the independence of their respective nations, building and raising the image of their country. If these political parties are led by sincere, farsighted, intelligent, credible leadership they can change the game and bring very positive change into the minds and hearts of people, organize, guide, and motivate them.
The Communist Party of China is one of the most important parties in the world which played a historical role in the independence, integrity, development, and prosperity of China. The Communist Party of China (CPC) was founded in 1921 and is the world’s second-largest party of the world in terms of its membership. At the end of 2023, there were 99.18 million members of CPC. Out of this 30.18 million members are female accounting for 30.4% of the total membership. 55.78 million or 56.52% hold a junior college degree. Under the visionary, revolutionary leadership of Mao Zedong, the CPC emerged victorious in the struggle to make China oppression free to get rid of the monopoly of the elite class, and to allocate national resources for all of the people of China equally and justly without any discrimination. The history of CPC is a glorious story of hard work, sacrifice, impeccability, and continuous struggle. In 1949, when China emerged with a new look as “ the People’s Republic of China” at that time nobody thought that one day China would become an economic power and would be the future of the world.2.41 million people joined CPC in 2023, with 82.4 % of them below 35 years. It held 1.26 million study sessions in 2023. It provides a vast ground of learning, and guidance to its members and provides full chances to grow, participate and learn. Its members are equipped fully with capabilities and commitment to serve their country. Mao Zedong continued to be the most influential member of the CPC until he diedin 1976. Under Mao party completed its land reform program, and launched a series of five-year plans.
The Chinese Communist Party is organized based on democratic centralism, a principle that entails open policy discussion on the condition of unity among party members in upholding the agreed-upon decision. The highest body of the CPC is the National Congress, convened in every five years. When the National Congress is not in session the central committee is the highest body. The party’s leader holds the offices of general secretary who is responsible for civilian party duties, Chairman of the Central Military Commission ( CMC) responsible for military affairs, and State President. The Current party leader is XI Jinping, who was elected at the 1st Plenary Session of the 18th Central Committee held on 15 November 2012 and has been reelected twice, on 25 October 2017 by the 19th Central Committee and on 10 October 2022 by the 20th General Committee.
To join CPC, an applicant must go through an approval process. This process is somehow similar to Pakistan’s Jamaat e Islami where one can join as Karkun and then umeedwar e Rukniyat (candidate for membership) for a few years, he/she has to read the party’s literature, learn its strict discipline, and then he/ she becomes a permanent member. Here is CPC a pre-screening process, akin to a background check, follows. Admitted members then spend a year as a probationary member. In contrast to the past, when emphasis was placed on the applicants’ ideological criteria, the current CPC stresses technical and educational qualifications. As of December 2023, individuals who identify as farmers, herdsmen, and fishermen make up 26 million, and members who identify as workers totalled 6.6 million. Managing, professional and technical staff in enterprises and public institutions made up 16.2 million. About 30 to 35% of Chinese entrepreneurs are or have been party members. It also has 7.59 million ethnic minority members.
It was a great honour and pleasure for me as I was part of the News Lark team who visited the Chinese Consulate on 10th July 2024. It celebrated and attended the 103rd foundation day ceremony of the Communist Party of China (CPC) with Chinese friends. This celebration was part of the News Lark’s efforts to promote Pakistan- China Friendship. His Excellency Mr. Yang Yundong was the heart and soul of this event. He appreciated the contribution of the News Lark for promoting Pak-China friendship and highlighted the role played by the CPC for the integrity, prosperity, and development of China. He said that the CPC is led by people with great qualities and its members are selected purely on a merit basis. He further said China believes in development and it is a partner of Pakistan in the journey of development, prosperity, and peace. He said terrorists are the enemies not only of the Chinese but also of Pakistan, its peace and development. Mr. Jawed Ahmed Malik, Chief Editor of the News Lark thanked His Excellency Mr. Yang Yundong and his team for their kindness and hospitality. He said the News Lark is fully dedicated to promoting Pakistan-China friendship and it feels great pride and satisfaction for this.
Dr. Syed Mehboob (writer) said that the Communist Party of China (CPC) has a long history of struggle, and sacrifices for the independence of China and to make it free from all sorts of oppression, and exploitation and consists of highly patriotic and capable people. He further said that it is the second-largest political party in the world with a strength of 99.18 million members. It was formed in 1921 and under the visionary leadership of Mao Zedong it became a great power and played a vital role in the progress, development, and prosperity of China. He further said that with the full support of Mr. Jawed Malik, he has a great commitment and dedication to promoting Pakistan-China friendship and produced more than thirty research-based articles on China.
Mr. Yusuf Malik and Saeed Balouch also spoke on the occasion and thanked CG for inviting them to such a dignified event.
At the end of the event, the cake was cut with great applause and clapping. Such events are very important as these efforts encourage the Chinese and they feel the love and warmth of Pakistan’s friendship which is greater than the Himalayas and deeper than oceans.
