LAHORE:Provincial Minister for Information and Culture Azma Bokhari has said that in every meeting of the Punjab Cabinet more than one plan comes for the betterment of the people.
Today the biggest problem of the common man is the problem of electricity, she said and added that the problem of the common man is the Punjab Chief Minister’s own problem.
She said that “Roshan Gharana Program” has been approved by the Cabinet, and there is good news for the people of Punjab, who are suffering from electricity bills, that the Chief Minister of Punjab is going to provide solar panels to consumers from 50 units to 500 units. Under this project, she said, 90 percent share will be paid by the Punjab government while only 10 percent share will have to be paid by the consumers. This is a billion rupees project, the details of which will be revealed to the public soon, she expressed these views while holding a press conference at DGPR, here on Tuesday.
She said that it has happened for the first time in the history of Pakistan that the price of flour has been notified in Punjab, on which the entire cabinet has paid tribute to the Chief Minister of Punjab. She said, “My Chief Minister has come to reduce the prices of flour, potatoes, onions and other food items and she has zero tolerance in this regard.”
Azma Bokhari further said that very soon the Socio-Economic Registry will start working under which the data of the beneficiaries will be collected and they will be able to benefit from the subsidies and relieves given by the Chief Minister of Punjab. “There can be no social service greater than this. I challenge that any plan of Punjab Chief Minister is not only on paper. She (CM) has done what she said.”
The Minister said, “My Chief Minister had said that corruption is her red line and she proved it. No tender shall be colluded, recommended or under-tabled in Punjab. Now there will be e-tendering and it will be in front of everyone.”
On this occasion, Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat said that they are bringing new reforms and comprehensive programs in education. Referring to Danish School flagship project, he said that matriculation result is enough for critics. Government schools will fulfill the promise of quality schools, he said and added that a committee has been formed for the appointment of VCs. “We have improved the quality of education in government schools in the first few months to such an extent that public sector schools have beaten the private schools and taken positions away from them in the matriculation examinations. Public school systems will be improved so much that the private sector will be forced to lower their fees,” he added.
He said, “In the matriculation examinations, we caught 270 centers bought by booti mafia and adopted a zero-tolerance policy in this regard in the inter-examinations, the results of which are out today.”
Rana Sikandar Hayat further said that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has kept awards of 25 crore rupees for position holders’ children. The Minister said, “When we came to the government, there was a shortage of 180,000 teachers. We have brought down the shortage to 38000 by utilizing the surplus teachers while solving this problem under smart policy.”
