ISLAMABAD:Minister of State for Interior, Talal Chaudhry, said that the federal government’s primary objective is to ensure peace and stability and protect public lives by eliminating terrorism.
Talking to the media outside Parliament House on Tuesday, he said terrorism was a national issue that hindered business activities and the country’s overall development.
He said the federal government had explored every possible option with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-led provincial government to find a solution in the larger national interest before taking the constitutional step regarding the province’s governance.
Talal Chaudhry said the federal government had accommodated political demands during negotiations and extended its support to the provincial leadership. However, he said, provincial government had failed to extend the required cooperation to the Centre on the key issue of terrorism and the need for a unified policy to address the security challenge.
He emphasized that tackling terrorism required coordinated efforts and a shared commitment from all stakeholders to support security forces and restore lasting peace.
The minister further said that following the constitutional measure taken to address the situation in the province, people there had expressed satisfaction, adding that the initiative was aimed at restoring peace and stability rather than achieving political objectives.
