ISLAMABADMinister of State for Interior, Talal Chaudhry, on Sunday show confidence about Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) security situation and get back to normal situation after imposition of emergency in the province, stating that federal government’s primary objective was to eliminate terrorism and restore normalcy, insisting that the move has no political agenda.
Talking to private TV channel, Chaudhry said the government would make every possible effort to normalise the situation as quickly as possible, stressing that it had not assumed responsibility to establish a political foothold in the province.
“Our sole agenda is to end terrorism,” he said, alleging that the provincial government had failed to fulfil its responsibilities and had used the security situation for political purposes.
Chaudhry focused that the provincial administration had not adequately supported counter terrorism efforts, arguing that political leadership and law enforcement agencies needed to work together to restore lasting peace.
Chaudhry said the federal government had tried several options before deciding to take action, including direct engagement with the KP chief minister and back-channel negotiations with the provincial leadership.
