ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Wednesday, directed the relevant authorities to expedite completion of Danish Schools across Pakistan and announced that a technology (Tech) campus of Danish University would be established in Muzaffarabad, describing the education initiatives as a major investment in the country’s future.
Chairing a review meeting on the progress of Danish Schools and Danish University, the prime minister termed these institutions as among the country’s most important national assets.
He directed the authorities to ensure the early completion of Danish Schools in all four provinces, Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Islamabad, PM Office Media Wing said in a press release.
He also asked that the architectural design of the schools should reflect the cultural heritage of their respective regions.
The meeting was attended by Ministers Azam Nazeer Tarar, Ahsan Iqbal, Attaullah Tarar, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, and senior officials of the relevant departments.
Emphasizing transparency, the prime minister said appointments of teaching faculty and other staff at both Danish Schools and Danish University must be made strictly on merit.
He also commended the Federal Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training for the pace of construction work on Danish schools.
During the meeting, officials briefed the prime minister on the progress of 27 Danish schools under construction in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh, Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Islamabad, as well as the construction of Danish University in the federal capital.
According to the briefing, the Danish School in Kurri, Islamabad, had been completed and already started academic activities, while construction of Danish Schools in Bagh, Bhimber, Sultanabad, Ghanche, and Astore was in the final stages, with classes expected to commence in April 2027.
The officials also informed the meeting that the recruitment process for Danish University’s teaching faculty has begun. The university is scheduled to start academic operations in 2027 and will admit students from across Pakistan on merit, with particular emphasis on providing opportunities to talented youth from the backward areas.
