ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday issued notices to the Ministry of Interior and other respondents in a petition seeking compensation for the victims of the Islamabad District Courts suicide bombing.
Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir heard the petition filed by Advocate Asif Gujjar. During the proceedings, counsel for the petitioner, Barrister Tasadduq Hanif, argued that under Section 13 of the Lawyers Protection Act, the victims and families of those affected by the attack were entitled to a Grade-18 martyr package.
Advocate General Islamabad Naveed Hayat Malik appeared before the court and assured the bench that the matter would be reviewed and efforts would be made to resolve it at the earliest. He requested additional time to address the issue.
The court directed the Advocate General Islamabad and the Deputy Attorney General to facilitate resolution of the matter and issued notices to the Federation, Secretary Interior, Chief Commissioner Islamabad and Deputy Commissioner Islamabad, seeking their responses.
