ISLAMABAD:President Asif Ali Zardari held a meeting with Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif at the President’s House on Monday and discussed national security, internal and regional situation.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarar, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb and Advisor to the Prime Minister on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah were present in the meeting.
They discussed the economy, budget for the next financial year, recent elections in Gilgit-Baltistan, situation in Azad Kashmir, law and order and issues of national importance.
Talking about budget proposals and public relief, the President emphasized on prioritizing public welfare, rights of provinces and economic stability in the federal budget.
The President directed that every effort should be made to harmonize growth rate and public welfare schemes in the upcoming budget.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi briefed the President about his recent visit to Iran and regional diplomatic engagements.
The meeting was also attended by Senator Sherry Rehman, Member National Assembly Syed Naveed Qamar, Senator Saleem Mandviwala and Senator Ahad Cheema.
Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah, Prime Minister Azad Jammu and Kashmir Raja Faisal Rathore and Member National Assembly Raja Pervez Ashraf also attended the meeting.
