In a rapidly evolving world where nations are increasingly defined by the strength, innovation, and character of their youth, the importance of visionary leadership platforms cannot be overstated. Pakistan, blessed with a dynamic and energetic young population, stands at a critical juncture where the right guidance, institutional support, and strategic direction can transform potential into progress. It is against this backdrop that the Professional Youth Foundation of Pakistan (PYFP) has taken a significant and forward-looking step by convening the first meeting of its Executive Council for the year 2026.

Held under the chairmanship of Brig. Syed Karrar Hussain (Retired), the session was not merely a formal gathering but a defining moment in the organization’s journey toward strengthening leadership and shaping a unified, forward-thinking vision. The presence of Cdr. Dr. Muhammad Tahir as Senior Vice Chairman added intellectual depth and strategic foresight to the deliberations, reinforcing the seriousness and purpose of the Council’s mission.

Brig. Syed Karrar Hussain (Retired), a seasoned professional with over three decades of distinguished service in the Pakistan Army, brings with him a wealth of leadership experience, operational expertise, and a deep understanding of national and international affairs. Having served in diverse command and staff appointments, including participation in United Nations peacekeeping missions such as UNAMSIL in Sierra Leone, he has consistently demonstrated professionalism, discipline, and commitment to service. Beyond his military career, he remains actively engaged in social work and intellectual discourse, serving as a defence analyst and contributing to national conversations through his writings and public engagements. His leadership of PYFP reflects a continuation of his lifelong commitment to nation-building and youth development.

The proceedings of the meeting were efficiently conducted by Acting General Secretary Ms. Hadiqa Siddiqui, whose structured and methodical approach ensured a smooth and focused agenda flow. Her professionalism facilitated meaningful discussions, enabling participants to engage constructively on key issues without deviation from the central objectives.

At the heart of the session were three core pillars that define PYFP’s mission: youth empowerment, leadership development, and community impact. These pillars serve as guiding principles for all organizational initiatives and reflect a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing Pakistan’s youth today. The Executive Council recognized that with more than half of the country’s population comprising young individuals, investing in their growth is not just a strategic priority but a national imperative.

A major focus of the meeting was the cultivation of leadership qualities among young professionals. The Council emphasized that leadership is not confined to titles or positions but is reflected in integrity, competence, and the ability to inspire and mobilize others toward a common goal. In this regard, various initiatives were discussed, including capacity-building workshops, mentorship programs, and opportunities for practical engagement in community service projects. These efforts aim to nurture confident, responsible, and forward-looking leaders who can contribute meaningfully to society.

Equally significant was the emphasis on shaping a collective vision. In a diverse society like Pakistan, aligning individual aspirations with a broader national purpose is essential for sustainable progress. The leadership highlighted the importance of fostering unity, mutual respect, and shared responsibility among members. By creating an environment that encourages dialogue and collaboration, PYFP seeks to build a cohesive network of professionals committed to the betterment of the country.

Strategic planning was a central theme of the meeting, with detailed discussions on upcoming initiatives designed to translate vision into action. These include community outreach programs, professional development seminars, youth engagement campaigns, and partnerships with academic and professional institutions. The focus remains on creating long-term impact through sustainable and well-structured programs.

An important dimension of the discussion was the role of collaboration. Recognizing that meaningful change requires collective effort, the Executive Council expressed its commitment to building partnerships with like-minded organizations at national and international levels. Such collaborations are expected to enhance the effectiveness of PYFP’s initiatives and expand its reach to a broader audience.

The meeting also highlighted the importance of inclusivity as a core organizational value. PYFP aims to provide equal opportunities to young professionals from diverse backgrounds, ensuring that talent and potential are nurtured irrespective of socio-economic or professional differences. This inclusive approach not only enriches the organization’s activities but also fosters innovation by bringing together a wide range of perspectives.

A significant strength of PYFP
is its most energetic President, Engr. Muhammad Umer Khan, whose dynamic profile embodies the spirit of modern youth leadership. A distinguished alumnus of Sir Syed University of Engineering & Technology, Karachi, he completed his Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering in 2014, followed by a Master’s in Software Engineering from ILMA University in 2016. As an accomplished entrepreneur in the IT sector, he has successfully launched his own business and contributed to business development for several renowned brands.

Beyond his achievements in the field of technology, Engr. Umer Khan has established himself as a prominent voice in the media landscape. As a broadcast journalist and program anchor, he has worked with reputable television channels, including News One TV, Aaj News TV, Such News TV, PTV News, and Metro One News TV. His ability to articulate issues, engage audiences, and present informed perspectives reflects his multifaceted personality and commitment to public discourse.

His academic excellence was recognized at the national level when the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan honored him as the Best Urdu Debater of Pakistan in 2013. Demonstrating his global outlook, he represented Pakistan at the International Media Conference in Astana, Kazakhstan, in May 2018, showcasing his dedication to youth development on an international platform. His role as the first ANF Youth Ambassador in Sindh highlights his commitment to promoting a drug-free society and addressing critical social challenges.

In recognition of his contributions to youth empowerment, Engr. Muhammad Umer Khan has received prestigious honors, including acknowledgment in 2021 by former Director General ISI, Lt. Gen. Nadeem Anjum, and in 2024 by Director General ANF, Maj. Gen. Abdul Moeed HI(M). Under his leadership, PYFP is poised to expand its outreach and impact, inspiring young individuals to pursue excellence and contribute positively to society.

The Executive Council meeting also underscored the importance of discipline, accountability, and professionalism as fundamental values. Members were encouraged to uphold these principles in all their activities, recognizing that credibility and trust are built through consistent ethical conduct. The leadership stressed that these values are essential not only for individual growth but also for the collective success of the organization.

As the session drew to a close, there was a palpable sense of optimism and determination among the participants. The first meeting of the Executive Council 2026 marked the beginning of a new chapter in PYFP’s journey—one defined by clarity of purpose, strategic direction, and a strong commitment to excellence. The leadership expressed confidence in the ability of the Council members to work collaboratively and achieve the organization’s objectives.
In his concluding remarks, Brig. Syed Karrar Hussain (Retired) emphasized that leadership is ultimately about service and impact. He urged members to remain proactive, dedicated, and aligned with the mission of empowering youth and contributing to national development. His words resonated deeply, serving as both inspiration and a reminder of the responsibilities that come with leadership.

Cdr. Dr. Muhammad Tahir also highlighted the importance of adaptability and continuous learning in a rapidly changing world. He encouraged members to embrace challenges, remain open to new ideas, and strive for excellence in all their endeavors.

The Professional Youth Foundation of Pakistan stands at a promising juncture. With experienced leadership, a dynamic president, and a committed executive council, the organization is well-positioned to make a meaningful contribution to the development of Pakistan’s youth. By strengthening leadership and shaping a collective vision, PYFP is not only preparing young professionals for future challenges but also contributing to the broader goal of national progress.

The journey ahead will undoubtedly require dedication, resilience, and collaboration. However, with a clear roadmap and a shared sense of purpose, the Professional Youth Foundation of Pakistan is ready to move forward with confidence—building leaders, empowering communities, and shaping a brighter future for the nation.
