ISLAMABAD:The District and Sessions Court of Islamabad on Monday postponed the hearing on a pre-arrest bail plea filed by senior journalist Khalid Jameel in a case registered under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA).
The court directed both sides to present arguments at the next hearing after noting that the case record was incomplete.
The matter was heard by Judge Afzal Majoka. During the proceedings, the court observed that due to missing record, arguments on the bail application could not be taken up.
Khalid Jameel appeared before the court along with his lawyer. The judge directed the prosecution and the defence to come prepared with arguments at the next date of hearing.
The court adjourned the hearing on the journalist’s pre-arrest bail application until March 9.
According to court documents, the case against Khalid Jameel has been registered by the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency under PECA provisions. The agency has accused the journalist of offences covered by the law, though details of the allegations were not discussed during Monday’s hearing.
The court made it clear that the bail matter would be taken up on the next date once the complete record is presented.
