ISLAMABAD:Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister (DPM/FM) Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar will depart on Friday night for Saudi Arabia to attend an Extraordinary Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), scheduled to be held in Jeddah on January 10.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the extraordinary session has been convened to discuss the implications of Israel’s recognition of the so-called Somaliland region of the Federal Republic of Somalia.
During the meeting, Senator Ishaq Dar will present Pakistan’s position on the issue of Somaliland and participate in deliberations with foreign ministers of OIC member states.
On the sidelines of the session, the Deputy Prime Minister is also expected to hold bilateral meetings with his counterparts from various OIC countries to exchange views on matters of mutual interest, including regional and international developments, and to explore avenues for further cooperation.
