ISLAMABAD:Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi visited the Beijing Police College, where he inspected several sections dedicated to high-tech police training on Thursday.
Minister Naqvi witnessed an impressive demonstration showcasing how Beijing Police use specialized vehicles to apprehend suspects. He praised the officers’ professionalism and the high standards of training at the institution, commending the special vehicle squad for their exemplary performance.
“I am highly impressed by the professional capabilities and outstanding training of the vehicle squad,” Naqvi remarked.
The minister announced that all ASPs from Pakistan’s National Police Academy will undergo a one-month training program at the Beijing Police College. He emphasized that cooperation between the National Police Academy and the Beijing Police College will be further strengthened. “Pakistani police officers will also receive education and professional training according to modern requirements,” he said, adding that a formal agreement between the two institutions will soon be finalized.
During the visit, Minister Naqvi also tested an advanced driving-test simulator. The President of the Beijing Police College briefed him on high-tech training methods, including the use of simulators and other modern tools.
Officials gave a detailed briefing on how modern technology is used for crowd-control demonstrations, handling violent incidents, and combating various forms of crime. College President Wu Wei also highlighted the institution’s technology-based academic and practical training systems.
It was further briefed that the Beijing Police College offers AI-integrated training, operates 12 faculties, and has over 400 faculty members—50 percent of whom hold PhDs.
Federal Interior Secretary Khurram Agha, DG National Police Academy Muhammad Idrees, DG National Cyber Crimes Investigation Agency Syed Khurram Ali, IG Islamabad Police Ali Nasir Rizvi, and Islamabad Chief Commissioner Muhammad Ali Randhawa accompanied the minister during the visit.
