UAE-based Bangladeshi expatriate journalists from electronic and print media have expressed deep sorrow in a joint statement on the demise of Begum Khaleda Zia, former three-time Prime Minister and Chairperson of the BNP.
In the statement, the journalist leaders said that Begum Khaleda Zia’s contribution to Bangladesh’s democratic struggle will be written in golden letters in history. The strong leadership she provided in nation-building and development will remain eternally memorable to the people of Bangladesh.
They further stated that the people of Bangladesh and the media have high expectations of Tarique Rahman. They expressed hope that Tarique Rahman will play a leading role in realizing the dreams and ideals with which Begum Khaleda Zia wanted to move Bangladesh forward.
In the statement, the media professionals prayed for the forgiveness of the departed soul and extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members.
