In recognition of his outstanding contribution to promoting cultural and diplomatic ties between Pakistan and Uzbekistan, renowned senior journalist, author, and Presidential Award recipient Muhammad Abbas Khan has been conferred with Uzbekistan’s prestigious national honor, the ‘Golden Pen’.
Mr. M.Abbas Khan received the award in the category of ‘Foreign Journalist for Best Reporting on Uzbekistan’. According to the Uzbek government, his decades-long journalistic services were honored at the highest level for presenting the reforms in the ‘New Uzbekistan’, the vision of the ‘Third Renaissance’, the country’s investment opportunities, and the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Pakistan to the world in an impartial and professional manner.
Following the award ceremony, Muhammad Abbas Khan said, I am deeply grateful to the government and people of Uzbekistan. This award is a trust for me. The relationship between Pakistan and Uzbekistan is not limited to diplomatic documents alone; it is about public trust, culture, and mutual respect. The purpose of my 10+ books and reports has always been the same. InshaAllah, I will continue to play my role in enhancing information cooperation and mutual understanding between the two brotherly nations.
The Uzbek government clarified that the award was specifically conferred on Muhammad Abbas Khan in recognition of his consistent efforts to strengthen bilateral diplomatic, ethical, and political relations between Pakistan and Uzbekistan. Notably, this is the first time in 17 years that the award has been given to a foreign journalist. Previously, the same award was also presented to the Presidential Award-winning renowned author Muhammad Abbas Khan in 2009.
Uzbek officials expressed hope that Muhammad Abbas Khan will continue to play his invaluable role in fostering friendship, mutual trust, understanding, and information cooperation between the two countries
