Karachi (Reporter) Sindh women lawyers and civil society leaders have expressed serious concern over the increasing incidents of rape, murder and kidnapping of women and minor girls in Sindh since the beginning of the new year and have demanded that the cases of rape of women and girls like Asia Khoso, Sara Baloch, Sabra Pathan and other girls and women be completed in the courts within two weeks and the perpetrators be brought to justice, separate police stations should be established for women in every small and big city of Sindh, the number of recruitment of women police officers and personnel should be increased, there should be no delay in the medical check-up of women victims of rape, the number of female medical legal officers should be increased, cases should be registered against police officers responsible for rape of women in Thull and Mirpurkhas police stations and punishment should be given, the recruitment of female judges should be increased, there should be no delay in the testing of women victims of rape and the accused involved. The Sindh government, taking notice of the rape and murder of women in Chotiaro Dam and Jacobabad, Thull , Jamshoro, have Those who threatened their families by making videos should be arrested. And the Chief Justice of the Sindh High Court should announce the formation of a judicial commission against the incidents of rape in January and February. These demands were made yesterday in a discussion organized by the Sindh Women Lawyers Alliance ( SWLA) on the topic of “Demand for justice in cases of sexual assault against women and the silence of civil society”. On this occasion, the Chairperson of the Alliance, Shazia Nizamani, said that the silence of society on the incidents of rape and murder of girls and women in Thull, Chotiaro Dam, Mirpurkhas, Jacobabad, Jamshoro and other places is also a tragedy. Some media and social media institutions should also keep in mind their journalistic codes and ethics to correct their behavior while writing reports or filming about rape victims. She said that Sindh is the only province where there are laws and ordinances for the protection and rights of women, of which top police officers and many judges are unaware. Due to which, due to male authoritarian thinking, women are facing difficulties in getting justice in police stations and courts Prominent women rights leader Seemi Kamal said that if the accused involved in violence and abuse of women were punished according to the law, Fatima Farro’s case would not have been dismissed and those who raped the Tik Tok girl of Jacobabad would not have threatened the girl by scaring her. Rubina Chandio said that the state should take notice of the behavior to women who are victims of abuse through jirgas. Lawyer Safia Lakho said that after the introduction of women’s rights activists during the hearing of women’s cases, the attitude of the judges changes and senior police officers express great sympathy for the affected women in front of the media. Later, their attitude becomes bitter towards the affected women and the women leaders who raise their voices for justice. On this occasion, lawyers Marvi Kalhoro, Faiza Khan, Sameera Ashfaq, Iffat Ara, Sapna Advocate, Kausar S Khan and lawyer Habib Panwhar said that the Bar Association should also take notice of the atrocities against women and protest, discriminatory behavior against women lawyers in the courts should be ended, the atrocities committed by the police against women should be stopped. And judges should be trained in women’s rights and existing laws and have a positive attitude towards affected women. Civil society and members of the assembly should turn their silence into protest over the increasing incidents of atrocities against women in Sindh.
