Sukkur — In view of the rising water levels in the Indus River and the looming flood threat, Chairman District Council Sukkur Syed Kumail Hyder Shah along with GOC Pano Aqil Major General Shehryar Qureshi visited the Ali Wahan Bund Zero Point to inspect the flood situation. Both leaders reviewed protective arrangements, relief camps, medical facilities, and livestock shelters set up along the embankments.
During the visit, Chairman District Council Syed Kumail Hyder Shah briefed the GOC on the ongoing rescue operations, ferry boat services, and boats provided by the District Council for evacuation purposes. He emphasized that rescue teams have been directed to ensure round-the-clock (24-hour) monitoring of the dykes so that immediate action can be taken in case of any emergency.
Commissioner Sukkur Abid Saleem Qureshi, DIG Sukkur Police Faisal Abdullah Chachar, SSP Sukkur Azhar Khan Mughal, Deputy Commissioner Nadir Shehzad, and AC Rohri Ghulam Murtaza Ghaghar also accompanied the delegation. Later, Chairman District Council Syed Kumail Hyder Shah, along with SSP Sukkur, inspected the flood torrents and affected villages through the District Council’s ferry boats.
On the occasion, Chairman District Council Syed Kumail Hyder Shah said that public safety is the top priority and District Council boats and staff are fully mobilized for rescue operations. GOC Pano Aqil Major General Shehryar Qureshi appreciated the steps taken by the District Council and district administration, assuring that Pakistan Army will continue to stand shoulder to shoulder with the civil administration and people in this testing time.
