KARACHI : Consul General of Sri Lanka in Karachi Sanjeeva Pattiwila has extended warm greetings and best wishes to the Government and people of Pakistan on the occasion of Pakistan’s National Day, expressing hopes for peace, prosperity, stability and continued progress.
In his message, the Sri Lankan Consul General said that Sri Lanka and Pakistan enjoy a longstanding and special friendship built on mutual respect, trust, goodwill and strong people-to-people ties. He said the relationship between the two countries has evolved into a close and multifaceted partnership covering political and diplomatic cooperation, trade and investment, defence and security, education, culture, tourism and sports.
Sanjeeva Pattiwila said Sri Lanka greatly values Pakistan as a trusted friend and partner in South Asia. He noted that close defence cooperation, expanding economic and trade relations, cultural exchanges and strong sporting ties continue to bring the two peoples closer together.
Highlighting the strong bond between the people of the two countries, he particularly referred to their shared passion for cricket, saying that it continues to strengthen people-to-people ties.
He said there is also significant potential to further strengthen trade, investment, tourism and business-to-business cooperation for the mutual benefit of Sri Lanka and Pakistan.
The Consul General said the friendship between Sri Lanka and Pakistan had stood the test of time, adding that true friendship is demonstrated not only during moments of celebration but also through solidarity, understanding and support when it matters most.
“Sri Lanka therefore reaffirms that Pakistan can always count on Sri Lanka as a true friend and trusted partner,” he said.
As Pakistan celebrates its National Day, Sri Lanka looks forward to further deepening the bonds of friendship and cooperation between the two countries and working together for peace, stability and prosperity in the region, he added.
The Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Karachi extended heartfelt wishes to the Government and people of Pakistan for a peaceful, prosperous and successful future.
