Women are an integral part of our society. They play a very important role in the development, progress, and prosperity of our country. Women are highly respected in every role. At home, they play a revered, sacred role of mothers, affectionate, caring, providing protection to their children, and building the blocks of our society. We always salute our mothers. Women also play important roles as daughters, wives, sisters, and always spread fragrance in our families. Sensible, educated, and value-based societies provide protection and confidence to women, enabling them to play an effective role in society.
Pakistani women are highly talented and capable, and when they are provided a chance and an enabling atmosphere, they have proved their worth. Mr. Jawed Malik, Chief Editor the News Lark, and I, Dr Syed Mehboob, Senior Research Editor, were always in search of “Brilliant Shining Stars of Pakistan” who, with their extraordinary efforts and talent, are earning a good name for Pakistan. Such a brilliant and shining star is Mohtarma Asma Saeed, DSP Investigation, serving at Women Police Station, Arambagh, Karachi.
Police Department is very important for security, beating and controlling crime, and eliminating terrorism. This department is directly linked with people and provides necessary services to them. Unfortunately, there is a distance and misunderstanding between common people and the police department. There is a need to narrow down and eliminate this distance and to remove misunderstandings. The News Lark, which is rendering valuable services to promote a positive and soft image of Pakistan. It is the largest contributor in the diplomatic circle and has received awards from various diplomats. The News Lark, would also like to bring positive aspects of police department to encourage its dedicated, committed and responsible officers. Mohtarma Asma Saeed, DSP Investigation, is one of such highly efficient, talented, and patriotic police officer who is a proud part of this department.
When we reached the office of Mohtarma Asma Saeed, she welcomed and greeted us. It was a pleasant experience. Mohtarma Asma was wearing a police uniform, which enhanced and further dignified her personality. No doubt she is the daughter of Sindh and the daughter of our beloved country Pakistan. She understands the importance of this uniform and has a sense of great responsibility on her shoulders. Her designation and uniform did not put an iron in her neck; rather, she is a down-to-earth lady. It is indeed inherent in her by his father, SP Saeed Sahib, who served as in-charge of the Police Training Center at Saeedabad, Karachi. Police Department’s Training enhanced her qualities and filled sense of patriotism and professionalism in her.
Asma Saeed joined the police force to serve the nation and to help common people. An educated, dedicated, and committed women Police officer like Asma’s presence encourages and paves the way for other women to join the police force, as this department definitely needs talented and dedicated women. Women can conveniently share their problems and difficulties and get help from the police. Violence against women, rape, and kidnapping are heinous crimes, and they must be controlled at every cost. We have to provide a sense of protection to our women and need to give exemplary punishment to violence mongers against women. Women police officers and other women staff’s role is very important in this regard. Hardworking and dedicated women like Asma Saeed are assets of our nation. We should encourage and appreciate them.
Mohtarma Asma Saeed belongs to a very noble, educated and well-known family. Her father, former SP Saeed Arain sahib, served as in-charge of Police Training Center, Saeedabad, and is well known for his valued services there. He totally changed the look and image of this training center. He not only renovated and decorated the building but also converted it to a people-friendly center where common people also got benefits and received important training. In this way, he narrowed down the distance between police and common people and restored trust of police department among the eyes of common people. Asma is following the footsteps of her father.
Talking with us, Mohtarma Asma Saeed told us that Women Police Stations are functional in each zone and now women can contact their relevant Women Police Station without any fear or hesitation. Women police are always there to serve and protect them.
Asma Saeed passed her Sindh Public Service exam in 2023 and secured 14th position in Sindh and 4th among candidates from the Police Department. She successfully cleared all the stages of police training and proved her talent at every step. She also got SSG commando training and proved herself as “IRON LADY”. She told us that he had a height phobia, but her trainers helped her to remove this fear, and she successfully jumped from 100 feet high tower. This gave her enormous satisfaction and confidence. Of course, women can do everything. She rightly believes that women are not less than men in any way. She says that she feels secure and comfortable in a police uniform. She says women must have confidence in their ability and talent. Like her, they can join the police force without any fear; however, they must keep in mind that they have to face and beat criminals. They have to be ready even in the dead of night to conduct a raid against criminals.
Mohtarma Asma is serving at the Women Police Station since May 2026 and bows her head before Almighty Allah in gratitude and seeks His help and guidance. Her husband, DSP Sumair Gul, is also serving at the Anti-Vehicle Lifting Cell, which means the majority of her family is serving their beloved country.
She told us that the Operations Department and Investigation Department are working separately. Police Operations handles immediate emergency response, routine patrols, and visible crime prevention. Lodging a First Information Report FIR) against a complaint or crime is the responsibility of the Operations Department. This department is headed by the Station Head Officer ( SHO). In contrast, the Investigation Department conducts in-depth post-incident inquiries, like analyzing evidence, interviewing witnesses, and building legal cases. Operations act first to secure the scene; investigations take over to solve the crime. Investigation Department is headed by IOS.
Mohtarma Asma told us that five police stations are working under her supervision, which is a matter of great pride for a woman and also reflects her enormous potential and talent, which is the core base of her seniors’ cBrave, Courageous Daughteronfidence.
When we were coming back from Ms. Asma’s office, Mr. Jawed Malik and me have the opinion that women of our country are highly talented and it is our duty to encourage them. We also prayed to the Almighty Allah for success, security, and longevity of Mohtarma Asma Saeed. It was indeed a very pleasant experience.
