ISLAMABAD:Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that the government of Pakistan was committed to establishing a strong, organized, and comprehensive system to address humanitarian challenges faced by society.
“Ensuring human dignity and protection in every type of crisis remains among the government’s top priorities. The government is taking practical steps to ensure a more effective response to disasters and emergencies, easier access to world-class healthcare facilities, and special protection for vulnerable segments of society,” the prime minister said in his message on the World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day.
The prime minister extended his heartfelt congratulations to the volunteers, staff, and partners associated with this movement around the world, especially in Pakistan, for their selfless humanitarian services and said that the day was being observed under the theme “United in Humanity.” This theme highlights the enduring importance of humanity, compassion, and solidarity.
He said the world was collectively facing complex challenges, including climate change, natural disasters, deteriorating public health conditions, and socio-economic inequalities. In this context, the role of humanitarian and service-oriented organizations such as the Red Cross and Red Crescent has become even more important.
These measures include strengthening early warning systems, investing in climate-resilient infrastructure, promoting community-level healthcare services, and improving coordination between federal and provincial institutions.
Efforts are also underway to enhance the capacity and preparedness of volunteers and first responders for prompt and effective emergency response at the public level. Dedicated social volunteers play a key frontline role in humanitarian service, he added.
The prime minister underlined that the Pakistan Red Crescent Society had continued to play an important role in disaster response, blood supply, healthcare services, and community outreach. Their access to remote and underserved areas truly reflects the spirit of humanity and service. The government appreciates these services and remains committed to further strengthening this partnership in the future.
“Let us all — including the government, civil society, private sector, international partners, and all segments of society — renew our pledge to work together for building a safer, healthier, and stronger Pakistan,” he said.
The prime minister also appealed to all citizens to embrace the values of compassion, volunteerism, and solidarity. “Let us unite in our commitment to serving humanity and extending every possible support to those in need.”
