ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday imposed a fine of Rs 100,000 on the Special Prosecutor National Accountability Bureau (NAB) for continuously seeking adjournment and non-appearance in the appeals seeking suspension of sentences of the founder PTI and Bushra Bibi in the 190 million pound case.
The court also issued a notice to the founder PTI and Bushra Bibi in the NAB’s miscellaneous application regarding the inadmissibility of the appeals for suspension of sentence and adjourning the hearing.
Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court, Sardar Muhammad Sarfraz Dogar and Justice Muhammad Asif conducted the hearing, while Barrister Salman Safdar and Aitzaz Ahsan appeared in the court on behalf of PTI founder.
Aitzaz Ahsan mentioned that he had brought it to the knowledge of the court that he needed the power of attorney signed by the PTI founder. However, he said, this could not be materialised.
Barrister Salman Safdar said his client had no instructions to give arguments on medical grounds, as he was serving 14 years in prison.
He pointed out that the Special Prosecutor was not present in the court and maintained the NAB had asked for an adjournment for nine times.
NAB Prosecutor Rafay Maqsood mentioned that miscellaneous application were filed how the suspension of sentence appeal was not admissible.
He said NAB was ready to give arguments in the case.
The court imposed a fine of Rs 100,000 on Special Prosecutor NAB and adjourned the hearing.
