A 14-year-old madrassa student died under suspicious circumstances in Kot Momin, with police suspecting severe torture by a madrassa teacher.
The tragic incident has sparked outrage in the local community and prompted a police investigation.
Student found dead with signs of torture
According to Sargodha police, the incident took place at Madrassa Sadidiya Moazzamiya Moazzamabad in Kot Momin tehsil. Muhammad Asif, a resident of Mauza Kalor Sharif, Tehsil Lalian, Chiniot district, had been enrolled at the madrassa for the past three years, memorizing the holy Quran.
The child’s family was reportedly called by the madrassa administration and told that his condition was critical. However, when they arrived, Asif was already dead inside an ambulance. Police confirmed that his body was found with a noose around his neck and bore clear signs of violence.
Body shifted for postmortem
Authorities moved the body to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital for postmortem examination to determine the exact cause of death. Police have registered a murder case at the Kot Momin Police Station on the complaint of the victim’s father.
