ISLAMABAD: Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Deputy Director Chand Ashraf told the banking court on Friday that since no evidence had been found against Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) leader Jahangir Khan Tareen and his son Ali Khan Tareen in the fake bank accounts case, therefore there was no need to arrest them. “Both Tareens have got a clean chit in the cases made against him,” he told the court in Lahore. He further said in the event of any action in the future, the Agency would inform the applicant in advance. Earlier, both father and son withdrew their bail applications in two cases namely money laundering and corporate fraud cases filed against them. Speaking on the occasion, counsel for ‘estranged’ PTI leader Jahangir Khan Tareen said his client had been appearing in court for the last 10 months. “Despite the fact that allegations were levelled against him but no proof was provided,” he added. Meanwhile, the FIA official, while informing the session court that right now the case of Tareen and his son was being studied, said there was no need to arrest both of them. Later, talking to the media Tareen said after a months-long inquiry, finally the FIA had admitted there was no need to arrest him and his son. “Today the FIA has admitted my and my son’s innocence,” he added. He claimed he had submitted to the court thousands of documents. “Rest of details would be provided by my lawyer,” the ‘estranged’ PTI leader said. He dispelled the impression that the FIRs registered against him had anything to do with the passing of the federal budget.
