ISLAMABAD – Federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rashid Ahmad has directed to complete the Lai Expressway project as soon as possible. The estimated cost of the project will be around Rs60 billion. According to details, Sheikh Rashid Ahmed presided over a high level meeting on Lai Expressway project and the meeting was briefed on the project.
The briefing informed that the project would cost about Rs60 billion. The project will be completed in partnership with the federal government, provincial government and public-private partnership. The Federal Minister was apprised of the work done so far on the project. Sheikh Rashid Ahmed also proposed to build commercial and residential projects on both sides of the road in the Lai Expressway project. He directed the concerned institutions to put the plan in action as soon as possible.
Member National Assembly Sheikh Rashid Shafiq, Commissioner Rawalpindi Capt (retd) Muhammad Mahmood, Chairman Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) Tariq Saleem and other senior officials were present in the meeting.
